If you love most things about your current house and want to stay in that location, yet it does not quite fit your current needs, a home addition may be the answer.
Home additions allow you to reconfigure your existing property while staying in the location you love. Adding onto your home expands your available living space and can make your home more efficient and comfortable for your family.
Why embark on a home addition?
People use additions to their homes for many different situations. Often, the goal of any home addition is to solve a challenge such as a lack of space, or, to make the function of the home more efficient. Home additions can take the form of a new master suite, a home office, an extra bedroom (or two), a family room, a Bay Area room, and many other possibilities. It can also provide an in-law suite or even a rental income space.
What types of options are available for home additions?
When it comes to home additions, there is virtually an endless range of choices. You might be surprised to see just how creative we can get in designing the room addition of your dreams. No matter what the purpose of the new space will be there are many ways to make it functional, unique, and aesthetically pleasing. We can even add custom-designed elements that are personalized specifically for your needs.
Does my home addition need to match the rest of my house?
This decision is entirely up to you. Some homeowners want their additions to flow seamlessly with the rest of the house and to look like it was always part of the original construction. Alternatively, other people want their new space to have a distinct look and feel. Over the years, we have designed home additions that fall into both groups or somewhere in between.
What determines the cost of a home addition?
Several factors impact the cost of adding to a home. While the size of the home addition is a primary consideration, other factors considered are the type of structure you have in mind, along with specific design details and features. At Inspired Builders INC, we are happy to suggest ways to help keep these costs within your budget.
Are there additional financial considerations associated with a home addition?
The short answer is yes. Depending on the specifics of your additional project, there may be other costs to consider. The extra square footage may impact your property taxes and insurance costs. Also, if you live in a private/gated community, there may be issues, such as HOA fees to consider. We recommend checking with your municipality, homeowners’ association, and insurance agent to find out what (if any) effect your home addition may have.
